7. O-O cxd4 8. cxd4 fxe5 9. dxe5 g6?! The plan to attack the e-pawn is logical, but it is simply too slow. 9...Nge7 looks better.
10. Nc3 Bg7 11. Nb5! Nxe5 If Black doesn't take the e-pawn then Nd6+ will be very strong. A sample line would be
11... Nge7 12. Nd6+ Kf8 13. Qa4 Nxe5? 14. Qe8# Clearly Black doesn't have to fall for the mate in one, but the threat of 14.Qf4+ is very hard to meet.
12. Nxe5 Bxe5 13. Be3 Qd8 14. Bd4! A thematic exchange to weaken Black's dark squares. It also eliminates his only developed piece.
14... Bxd4 15. Qxd4 Nf6 16. Nc7+! 16.Qe5 wins the exchange, but the text is much more clinical. Black's replies are forced.
16... Qxc7 17. Qxf6 Rf8 18. Bb5+ Bd7 19. Qxe6+ After 19...Kd8 20.Qxd5 Black has no satisfactory defence to 21.Rad1
